Studio

From ancient days, Lethangie means "the old house of the monks". Today, Lethangie retains an unmistakable sense of tranquility and spirituality.

Lethangie Studio and Gallery is the brainchild of leading Scottish artist Hugh Murdoch. It realises his vision to combine a sympathetic environment in which to paint with an exhibition space to show his work to full effect.

On an annual basis, Hugh exhibits his own work along with various other artists from the applied arts.

Hugh's Garden

In the grounds between his studio and his home, Hugh has cultivated an extraordinary woodland garden where leafy, winding paths and innovative water features set a restful yet inspirational mood.

The studio, the garden, the house - all reflecting Hugh's character and his work as a painter - lie within the 200-acre Lethangie estate, a property which dates back to the 17th century and continues to operate as a working farm.
